Mary-B Ferl---
100% of the pictures I paint are happy accidents. Rarely do any of my paintings turn out as I had envisioned them. So, it's a big surprise every time. What could be more fun than that ?

Joy Flowers--
My love for painting began way back in my childhood with paint by numbers....then turned to painted wood items that I sold at craft fairs. I am basically self-taught but I did take some classes for the oil painting. Now I have evolved into water colors & acrylics. I don't stick to any one subject. I guess it's just what catches my eye at the moment. I especially enjoy painting landscapes & nature.

WHAT'S NEXT...

The artists for April are long time friends Kathleen Wobie & Lorelei Esser. They also just happen to be long time friends of mine. ( 1974??!!!)

Their work will be on the walls of the restaurant beginning Tuesday April 5 through Saturday April 30.

This will be a great show ---don't miss it.

Kathleen Wobie---

After a run on her litter of encaustic cats this fall Kathleen Wobie has resurfaced with a new group of homeless characters that she's taking out for a pizza & a look at the local scene . Drop by, have a look & rescue one of these critters.

Lorelei Esser--

I see my present work as a Display of the Sustainable Spirit. Creating form from energy that has been dormant , lost or fallen from an animal or tree, from the sea, washed up & breaking down, man-made materials left behind to rust , rot or wear away, making it's way , rock to grain , to the eternal .

These things that we see as lifeless are in a constant state of change & gradual movement.

I gather wood, stone, plastic, metal , glass, paper, rubber, peeled paint, any material that I can read into the story. I design by form & find , & I am amazed at what is revealed in the process, the energy has come together from the memory of what once was , a purpose , a sentimental journey, an attachment to us.

here is scott's artist statement : 

"My name is Scott Stanton "Panhandle Slim" and I am from North Florida just next 

door to Alabama. I live in Savannah,GA now with my family. I like to paint ART 
for FOLK. I have been painting these paintings on plywood for a long time. 
It's a good feeling just knowing that my paintings are hanging in peoples' 
homes, buisnesses and offices across the world. My paintings have landed in the 
hands of some famous folk and some common folk. One person(a Georgia fan) even 
bought one of my paintings(Bear Bryant) so he could break it in two pieces.

juli & david will be showing their work beginning february 8

Juli Toro--
Juli uses painting & shadow boxes to depict scenes from some bizarre home where tiny pompoms cover the dinner table & the dresser drawers are full of hair. She is fascinated by how children can imagine & play so easily, & tries to create a childlike curiosity about her own surroundings in order to see them in more exciting ways.Juli graduated fron the University of Florida with a Bachelors degree in sculpture in 2008, & has since then gradually scaled down her work into miniature. she is currently exploring terrariums as a medium for creating mini forested wonderlands & is enjoying the journey of collecting jars & tiny creatures & combining them with succulents & locally harvested moss.

David Toro---
David's collages are inspired by 60s-80s pop culture , eastern religious iconography, & textile patterns. These collages are representative of the album art that he creates for his music label Rotifer cassettes. David also uses paint to create windows of celestial landscapes.

lennie kesl will be showing his art in the restaurant beginning december 7--continuing through january 2011.

about lennie: Kesl studied at L’Atelier Fernand Lager in Paris, France in 1949 and at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1956 to 1957. He earned his master’s degree from Michigan State University in 1957 and spent the next 35 years teaching throughout the country. 
“I went all over the place,” Kesl said, “Alaska, Cincinnati, Montana. I was an art teacher for 35 years. I retired at 65 and became free to paint, sleep a lot, read a lot, do whatever I want.” 
Lennie taught at the University of Florida from 1968---1972----& at Santa Fe Community College from 1972--1991.

here is his artist's statement-


I wasn't making a living as a painter so I chose to open a restaurant that
combined my love of pizza and art.  Since I was very young I enjoyed and was
good at drawing. I started to paint in college and have been painting now
for over 20 years. Painting is my favorite hobby. When I paint there is no
pressure and stress and I escape to the freedom of childhood.
Since I was young I was excited by folk art, or outsider art. I paint with
latex house paint on masonite or wood and make my own frames. I enjoy
combining shapes and colors in abstract patterns and it seems there is
always something to see in them and everyone sees something different.
Lately I have been going between symmetrical and asymmetrical paintings.
This year they are symmetrical, or "semi-symmmetrical" as I like to think of
them. While they are meant to be quiet and humble, sometimes they surprise
me and seem loud and flashy. Come see them for yourself and enjoy some great
pizza too.
