Their statements--
Robyn--
Robyn Miller is an artist, student, and human being from Fort White, Fl.
Her work is inspired by nature, psychology, mythology, animation, literature and so much more. She is currently working towards a BFA in painting at the University of Florida.
Leslie--
JUST TREES is Leslie Peebles' show at Satchels. She has a growing body of oil paintings and relief prints about trees. Trees represent spiritual, soulful forms whose every trial and tribulation is expressed in their great bodies. The more they go through, the more breathtakingly beautiful their forms are. Native Americans call them "Standing People". Rather than a hierarchy of life with humans at the top, Native Spirituality calls for humans to be brothers and sisters with all the other life forms on the Earth and to be open to learning the lessons each freely gives. Perhaps trees teach us patience, grace, endurance, and gratitude.
Leslie Peebles is a local printmaker and painter. Her relief prints have won numerous awards including Best of Show at 3 Rivers in Pittsburg, Pa( 2014) and first place in printmaking at Coconut Grove ( 2011). She received her B.A. in Drawing and Painting from Tulane in New Orleans and an M.A. in Art Education from U.F. She was a local art educator in Alachua County for 17 years and has been a full time artist since 2010. She is current president of Sweetwater Print Cooperative.
