Jordan Borstelmann & Danny Lore.
They also both happen to be long time employees at Satchel's.
Danny has been collecting knives for as long as he can remember. He has travelled the world with his band , Against All Authority, picking up knives along the way to add to his collection. "I would buy a knife and just study it. I'd look at the lines, the grind marks and the handles. I'd just stare at it and wonder how did they make this thing!?". One day a friend casually mentioned that he had been doing some blacksmithing for a few years. Danny asked him if he'd ever made a knife. His friend replied "No, but if you come over this weekend we can make one together." He's never looked back. Constantly working to refine his craft he's always looking for new handle materials and using different steel. He's traveled to learn new techniques under knife makers that are considered to be masters in their field. Every knife that Danny makes is hand sculpted from the beginning to the end using a combination of of old school craftsmanship, artistry and modern technology.
I have been a blacksmith for 5 years, slowly gathering the tools and skills I need to practice my Art. For the past two years I have been studying knife and tool making, which I consider to be the heart of the blacksmith's trade. Each piece is as individual as a snowflake, forged with hammer and anvil into a beautiful and above all useful form. I have also recently been teaching bladesmithing classes out of Leslie Tharp's studio and at the Florida Artists Blacksmiths Association's annual conference.
